Stephanie Mika started her swimming experience at the age of five in the YMCA swimming league. She and her family joined Chenango Aquatics when she was 10 years old. During her varsity career she swam for 5 years at Chenango Valley High School. Shortly after high school, Stephanie began coaching in the NYSPHS (from 2001 -2009). During those years she coached modified at Whitney Point and Chenango Valley, and Varsity at Susquehanna Valley. Starting in 2002 Stephanie came back to CAGO as an assitant coach under Lucille and Steve Busch, the same coaches that were at CAGO when she swam with the team. In the fall of 2008, Coach Mika became the head coach of CAGO. She holds a level 1 coaching certificate. Coach Mika has had a postive experience with Chenago Aquatics over the past 7 years and looks forward to the future of CAGO and it's growth!
After graduating from Chenango Valley High School in 1999, she attended BCC where she received an associates degree in Liberal Arts and Education. Following BCC, Stephanie completed her Bachelors degree in Childhood Education from SUNY Cortland. While continuing to coach, she earned her Masters in Education from Walden University. She is currently a substitute teacher in the Chenango Valley and Chenango Forks School Districts. Coach Mika and her husband Jake have been married for 3 years. Recently they have added a son, Connor, a future CAGO swimmer to their family.
