If a parent wants to contact a coach directly about any issues, they can do so by phone, email, or meeting with the coach before or after practices. Please refer to the contact us link on the website for telephone and email addresses.

While attendance at every practice is not mandatory, swimmers that want to succeed and improve their times need to attend as many practices as they can. Historically speaking, those swimmers with high attendance are more likely to continually improve their times and techniques and overall have a more successful swim season. Those swimmers with low attendance usually show less improvement in their times or swimming techniques during the year.

There are a number of possibilities for those who want to help, but can't make a giant commitment:
1 Help with copying programs at meets.
2 Be a "runner" before and just as the meets get underway.
3 Have fun and get close to the action by being a timer on deck - you're going to be watching anyway!
4 Fill in at the concession stand for a half hour or an hour while the meet is underway.

The Chenango Aquatics - Go Swim Team (CAGO) is run by the coaches and a group of parent volunteers. It takes a lot of time and effort to raise money, manage the team, run a swim meet, outfit the team, etc. We are always looking to parent volunteers to help out with this. Most jobs don't take a lot of time and effort, are a great way to meet other parents and allow you to be on deck with your children (especially young children) during the swim meets. We ask that you consider helping the team out in anyway that you can! Sign up for timing at the meets (no experience necessary - we conduct training prior to every meet), help out with fund raising or in any other capacity that interest you. Below are some of the areas where help is needed.
* Fundraising
* Deck volunteers--timers, officials, runners, heat ribbons
* Meet concession/ program sales
* Hospitality--help organize and run our family events
* Administrative--copying, filing, phone calls
All efforts directly affect and benefit the kids!

Various fund raising events are held throughout the year. Yearly fundraising goals are established to cover team expenses not covered by the registration fee (trophies, awards, ribbons, banquets, registrations fees, etc.).

Every effort is made to keep parents and swimmers informed of what is going on during the swim season. This is done through the CAGO website, emails, parents meetings, posting notices on the bulletin boards and putting information into the mail folders found in plastic bins in the pool viewing area (Hallway). Each swim family will have their own folder. Team information that is emailed out will also be placed in the folder. Ribbons awarded to swimmers from the various swim meets will also be distributed via the folders.

It is a good idea to arrive at least 10 minutes before practice. This way it ensures your swimmer has plenty of time to get their equipment set up before practice begins.

Yes. Parents are a huge part of the success of a swimmer’s development, however it is important that during practice times you only observe your swimmer. Parent interaction with the swimmers should be at a minimum during the practice; this way the coaching staff is able to keep the full attention of the swimmers in the group.

We really encourage you to have your swimmer stay for the entire practice period; however. we understand this is not always possible. If you arrive late, please have your swimmer ready to swim as soon as possible. Once ready, send your swimmer to his/her coach for instructions on what the group is doing. If you need to have your swimmer leave practice early, make sure the coach knows before practice starts. This way we are able to account for every swimmer and ease any transitions of swimmers arriving/departing.

On average your swimmer will have a meet a month that they are able to attend. While swim meets are an important part of the development of a swimmer, the amount of meets attended and which ones varies from swimmer to swimmer. The coaching staff will assist each swimmer with which meets to attend.
